This shoot was just the way I love shooting with families - fun in the garden with lots of play and very few poses. One of the best things about moving to the small town of Adelaide in the Eastern Cape, has been meeting this lovely family. Debbie and Mike have been so friendly and welcoming, and their boys so much fun! And I'm also so excited that number 3 is only the way soon, so you had better get used to seeing these beautiful faces.Read More
I met Carla and Graham earlier this year to do their engagement shoot and get to know them a bit and it was pretty clear from the outset that they weren't too keen on posing for the camera and liked to keep things as natural as possible. They emphasised that they would love me to shoot the wedding in a "ninja" documentary style - capturing moments as they happened, rather than lots of posing - my absolute favourite request from a bride and groom!
The wedding was definitely a favourite so far - the weather was perfect, Carla and Graham had organised the most beautiful event down to the smallest detail, and yet were so relaxed and enjoyed their day, and the venue, Olive Rock, was absolutely gorgeous.Read More
Lizette wanted a lush, green, spring themed shoot and luckily there is no shortage of lush green spots in Cape Town in spring. We found a little park near Kirstenbosch and the shoot was, literally and figuratively, a walk in the park - I don't think I've ever met two little girls so happy and cute in front of the camera, what a pleasure it was to snap some shots of this lovely family.Read More
Abby and Etienne celebrated their marriage, South African style, at the beautiful Overture restaurant on the Hidden Valley wine estate. After tying the knot at home in the UK, they had another ceremony here in South Africa for local friends and family.Read More
I spent the morning on the beautiful Lombard family farm taking photos of Christoff and his mom and dad, and then of his amazing ONE-derland first birthday party. What a beautiful spot and a lovely family.Read More
This beautiful wedding was in Hout Bay valley - the ceremony and reception were at Monchique but my favourite part of the day was exploring the beauty of Orange Kloof Nature Reserve with Cheryl and Marissa for their couple shoot. Marisa and Cheryl love spending time together outdoors and so it only seemed fitting to get out into the lush green nature reserve to take their photos. It was lovely to photograph a wedding that was a little different, but full of fun and love.Read More
A few of my favourite shots from David & Melissa's baby bump shoot. They were absolute troopers, missioning through the fields even though she is very pregnant and it was freezing cold! But you would never say so from the pictures, what an elegant mom-to-be! Thanks for letting me share this part of your story and I'm looking forward to taking more photos of your little girl when she arrives!Read More
Common Good is a fantastic non-profit organisation based in Cape Town with a focus on addressing the city's challenges of Education, Employment and Early Childhood; the three E's. Each one of these areas is addresses through partnering with different projects.
What I love about this organisation is that the focus really is on long term sustainable development and empowerment, rather than simply hand-outs and welfare.
I met with Sarah Binos, one of the directors and she shared a recent motto with me; "The job isn't done until the story has been told". I got involved with these projects to try and help tell the stories of the different people involved with and affected by the projects.Read More
In March I spent a week in my old home town of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape and got to take some photos of a number of beautiful families. To celebrate my move back to this part of the world, I thought I would compile a few of my favourites into one blog post and I hope all this loveliness makes you smile as much as these cute faces made me smile!Read More
Is it even legal to have so much cuteness in one family? What a treat it has been to get to know the lovely Tucker family over the last few months. Blake and Rachel are such authentic, real friends and are a amazing example of excellent parenting. They have been such a support and a blessing to us in the last few months and so I was so glad to be able to do a family photo session with them before I leave Cape Town and head to the Eastern Cape. Cape Town is looking so beautiful in all it's autumn glory and so a walk in the park was definitely in order. I hope you enjoy the photos of this beautiful family as much as I have.Read More
I met Ina while working on a brand story and we hit it off. Ina is a model who lives in Germany but spends South Africa's summer living in Cape Town. She is a complete natural in front of the camera and I learnt so much from shooting with her. It was really different working with a model who didn't need much direction, she just did her thing and looked amazing. We met on the beach in Llandudno and had a bit of fun on the beach.Read More
Afromontane is another exciting collaboration with the fantastic brand specialists, Boris Henry. Sandra is the mastermind and creator behind this line of gorgeous winter jackets. Not only are they stylish and warm, my favourite part about them is that they are made out of ethically sourced materials.
Sandra and I sat down and brain stormed that stories that we wanted to tell through the photos. The stories of a chilly early morning walk on the beach, or exploring the beautiful Cape mountains, or walking home from work on a cold afternoon. Although this shoot was a lot more fashion orientated than I usually shoot, the aim was to tell life like stories which appeal to real people. Have a look and see what you think.Read More
Although I love telling stories in the most natural way possible, sometimes you need to craft and shape a story to fit a brand. This is often the case with companies - and so their staff photos are created to fit the brand. I have recently done a few more corporate style head shots and thought I would share the result - let me know what you think.Read More

Although David was really not a fan of having his photo taken, he put on a brave face and smiled for the camera. The things we do for love! Most of the shoot was filled with laughs and giggles, these two certainly know how to make each other smile. I hope the pictures make you smile too! And all the best for your wedding Dorette & David!Read More
Although traditional weddings with all the frills and trims are very beautiful, every now and again I get to do something a little different and it is so much fun. Chris and Sarah chose to celebrate their marriage down the street from their home in Gardens, at Marika's Greek restaurant.Read More
Sara and Dave's wedding was a small but beautiful one on a stunning sunny day in the lovely Republic of Hout Bay at Riverside Estate.
Sara and Dave met at a difficult intersection in both their lives, but what a wonderful thing that they did! Together they really do light each other up and bring out the best in one another. There was so much love evident at their wedding, not just for one another but also from their families.Read More
If I had to describe Ali and Marcus's wedding in a few words, I would say it was an intimate, aqua occasion. From Ali's blue eyes which Marcus mentioned in his speech, to the crystal clear Langebaan lagoon, the table decorations, Ali's toenails, even the steps of the Churchhaven chapel - aqua was definitely the theme of the this intimate day.Read More
