This special couple go way back for me. Ash and I used to live together, I remember the days when she and Craig started dating, and of course their beautiful wedding three years ago. And so when I happened to be in Cape Town for the weekend and she phoned me up and asked if there was any way I could do an anniversary preggie shoot with them - I was only too happy. It was lovely to catch up with them and see them thriving and about to be a family of three.Read More
Although David was really not a fan of having his photo taken, he put on a brave face and smiled for the camera. The things we do for love! Most of the shoot was filled with laughs and giggles, these two certainly know how to make each other smile. I hope the pictures make you smile too! And all the best for your wedding Dorette & David!Read More
Although traditional weddings with all the frills and trims are very beautiful, every now and again I get to do something a little different and it is so much fun. Chris and Sarah chose to celebrate their marriage down the street from their home in Gardens, at Marika's Greek restaurant.Read More
I am photographing Carla and Graham's wedding later this year but they warned me that they were both very camera shy and "turn into Wallace & Gromit in front of the camera" so we thought that a chilled engagement shoot would be a great idea to get to know each other and to help them relax in front of the camera.Read More
I've known Jess for a while but was super surprised when she contacted me to do a portrait session. We got chatting and she said that she had cut her hair and really liked it and just wanted to have some nice photos of herself taken. How great is that!? I feel like most girls either hate having their photos taken, or flood the online world with selfies of themselves, but not many people take the time and money to have nice photos of themselves just because they are feeling good about themselves.Read More
Zee and Cameron have been engaged for three years and finally decided that a holiday in Cape Town was the perfect time for an engagement shoot, and it really was perfect - gorgeous light, atmospheric sea mist, and most importantly, a stunning couple who know each other so well and seem to be the perfect match.Read More
A few months ago I was approached by the multi-talented Claire from BorisHenry, a fantastic brand strategy company based here is Cape Town, about collaborating on a new brand and their new website.
The company is called Cape Concept Bespoke Knitwear and is run by a skilled artisan John who uses only the finest wool, cotton, Kid Mohair, Mohair and Alpaca to create luxury knitwear. We wanted to tell their story with a few key points - a focus on the Cape, a focus on luxury and a little glimpse into the story of how these products are made. Have a look at the fantastic finished website here: http://capeconcept.co.za - well done on a lovely website Claire!Read More
Emma and I have had some real adventures together over the past year - there's nothing like being charged by a gorilla together, attacked by fire ants or sharing a room in the Congolese rainforest to make you fast friends, not to mention that we have a common passion - our photography.
I feel so privileged that I got to share this adventure with Emma too - her beautiful wedding day. Emma made the most gorgeous bride and her and Kurt seem so right together. Despite the crazy weather it was a beautiful day and I just loved photographing such a chilled, well planned wedding.Read More
When I heard that Jenna had got engaged, I was so excited to do a photo shoot with her - but I got more than I bargained for and it turned into a bit of a family shoot with Jenna, Jarrod, and their two babies - Basil and Herbert! They are full of energy and slobber but I had such fun photographing this lovely little family, and we were so lucky to have a magical evening on the beach. Jenna and Jarrod were such good sports, braving the waves, walking in spiky grass, lying in the sands and surviving the chilly wind - but the result was beautiful...Read More
I've been so lucky to get to know Emma this year - we have had some real adventures together and I'm so excited to be photographing her wedding later this year. I have also got to know Em's fiancé Kurt, and there is one thing that any of Kurt's friends will know - he loves his fishing! So we went along to the vlei for some fishing and a few lovely photos.Read More
Brittany and Dave are another amazing couple I know from our days at Rhodes together and I was so excited when they got engaged. They have such a special story of love at first sight and I am so happy that they are getting married at the end of the year. We had a really fun photo shoot in the fynbos outside the Silvermine Nature Reserve and I hope these pictures captured just a little bit of their loveliness.Read More
I have known Fred and Kate for a number of years - we were all at university together - and so I was delighted when they asked me to photograph their wedding. The wedding was on Kate's beautiful family farm, on the polo field to be precise. The wedding was full of wonderful personal touches - Kate's whole family had helped with the cake, her lovely dress was made from scratch by her amazing mum, and her Dad had created personalized wine for the wedding day. Horses, vineyards, mountain views, a bevy of lovely bridesmaids and a beautiful, madly-in-love couple all made for the most magical day despite the howling wind, and at the end of the evening everybody partied hard in true Rhodes style.Read More
While working for Go2Africa, I was involved in an exciting video project called Adventure Africa, a series of videos documenting a few of the adventure activities on offer in Cape Town. I shot behind the scenes images, stills for the video production, and stills for use on the Go2Africa website and blogs. We shot mountain biking, paragliding, climbing Table Mountain, riding Harley Davidsons and kite surfing.Read More
