For the past year I have been the in-house photographer, amongst other things, for the most fantastic luxury travel company - Go2Africa. This travel company prides themselves in selling only the best African travel experiences and visiting all the places that they sell - one of their slogans is "We know because we go" - and I have been lucky enough to go along on a number of trips.
Congo Gorilla trekking
The Central African Rainforest is the second largest rainforest in the world and is home to the endangered Western Lowland Gorilla. Wilderness Safaris has partnered with the lead researchers working with the primates and runs two beautiful eco-lodges in the Congo. A team from Go2Africa visited the lodges to film a video series about the experience. My task was to photograph behind the scenes shots of the filming, stills for the video production media, and still for Go2Africa to use to market the Congo tour. A full gallery of images can be found here.
Hermanus Whale Adventure
Hermanus is not just a quaint little seaside village - it's also the best spot in South Africa to spot Southern Right whales, both from the shore and from a boat. We stayed at the beautiful Birkenhead hotel and the majestic Marine Hotel and spent the days whale watching and wine tasting. My images were used on the Go2Africa website to sell whale watching tours, but also to illustrate two blogs; Tips for Boat-Based Whale Watching and A Taste of the Hermanus Wine Route.
De Hoop Luxury Villa
The Morukuru Group own beautiful villas and lodges around South Africa and their latest villa is an eco-friendly house in the De Hoop Nature Reserve with breath-taking views of the ocean and the migrating whales. The beautiful villa is beautifully decorated with local South African Art and blends beautifully with the natural surroundings. We were treated to seashore nature walks, mountain biking and sundowners on the sand dunes. The images I took were used for social media as well as on the Go2Africa website to advertise the villa.
